It’s Official – The Volkswagen Eos Is On Its Way Out

August 18th, 2014 by

While it’s been a poorly kept secret for months now, Volkswagen has finally made it official – the Volkswagen Eos will not be continued for the upcoming model year. Actually, the elimination of the VW Eos was not unexpected, as the company is making some exciting changes to the model lineup for the coming year. The 2015 model year is expected to bring some of the biggest changes to Volkswagen’s vehicle offerings in quite a while.

The Eos hardtop convertible will still be available in limited quantities through 2015, in what is being called a Final Edition trim level. This specially-produced Eos model will include things like 18-inch alloy wheels, special edition two-tone leather interior and an upgraded equipment list. This could be a great opportunity for Georgia drivers to own one of the most exciting and fun-to-drive Volkswagens in recent years.

What’s Next for Volkswagen Drivers in Athens, Loganville, Jefferson and Winder GA?
The statement about the discontinuation of the Eos was made alongside a few other bits of news for Georgia VW lovers as well. In addition to the removal of the VW Eos from the lineup, the Volkswagen Routan minivan will also be discontinued for 2015. The elimination of these two vehicles makes way for some pretty exciting changes to the rest of the Volkswagen lineup. In the official statement, Volkswagen officials have told us that changes we can expect in the coming year include:

The introduction of Volkswagen first all-electric vehicle for sale in the American market. The fully battery-powered e-Golf will begin showing up in dealerships in November of this year, and at Volkswagen of Athens, we expect to have them available for our Athens-area customers at that time.
A newly redesigned Volkswagen Touareg for 2015 with new styling, a more refined interior and even more advanced driver and safety features. The all-new Touareg will be introduced around the first part of 2015.
VW Golf SportWagen will also come along in early 2015, replacing the current Jetta SportWagen. This new Golf version of the popular family-friendly wagon will be more powerful and the most spacious Golf to date.
A new Golf GTI will also make its debut for 2015, with a more powerful 210-horsepower engine that’s also more fuel-efficient.
The all-new Golf R for 2015 will have a 292-horsepower engine and Volkswagen’s 4-MOTION all-wheel drive system.
Finally, Volkswagen famous TDI Clean Diesel engine gets a redesign as well, with more horsepower, more torque and greater fuel efficiency than the previous version.
